Description	:	"BROADUS -- Ulon Brock 'Bob' Sterling and his wife made their home in Sonnett until 1936, when they opened the country store and post office on 15 Mile Creek. They later relocated the store and post office to 10 Mile Creek, where they operated it until the fall of 1960. They then moved to Broadus and purchased the Montana Bar and Cafe, which he operated until the time of his death. He was a member of the Elks Lodge. Mr. Sterling, 79, died Tuesday evening in his home of natural causes. He was born in... Read More	"BROADUS -- Ulon Brock 'Bob' Sterling and his wife made their home in Sonnett until 1936, when they opened the country store and post office on 15 Mile Creek. They then moved to Broadus and purchased the Montana Bar and Cafe, which he operated until the time of his death. He was a member of the Elks Lodge. Mr. Sterling, 79, died Tuesday evening in his home of natural causes. He was born in Kansas City, Kan., a son of Joe and Ida Brock Sterling. As a child he moved from Kansas City to Belfry and in 1926 to Sonnett, where he worked for George Gustafson during the summers, returning to Belfry to attend school in the fall. After high school, he made his home in Sonnett and married Emma Mankameyer in 1929; she died in January 1981. In August 1981, he married Jean Ritter in Broadus. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Billie Knudson and Betty Alderman, both of Broadus, and Bonnie Lyda of Sonnett; a stepdaughter, Karen Amende, and a stepson, Cliff Franklin, both of Broadus; five brothers, Cliff of Portland, Ore., Wayne of Alaska, Donnie of Miles City, Joe of Powell, Wyo., and Jay of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Joyce Peterson of Bozeman, Mont.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Powder River Congregational Church in Broadus with burial in Valley View Cemetery." The Billings Gazette, June 26, 1987
