Description	:	BAIL, ULYSSES GRANT—Ulysses Grant Bail, son of Hugh and Sarah Bail was born April 6, 1866, in Dallas county, Iowa. He came to Fillmore county, Nebraska, September 1, 1889, and the Martland vicinity has been his home since that time. February 1, 1893, he was united in marriage to Cora Sophia Merryman of Martland. Two days later they moved to their present home near Martland, where they lived nearly 60 years. Mr. Bail united with the United Brethren church at Martland in 1895 and remained a member of that church until it disbanded in 1951. Mr. Bail was a farmer all his life. He was a lover of good horses and good stock, and took great pride in his home and farm. He was a good neighbor and a willing helper to his friends and neighbors who needed him. He was a member of the Woodman lodge 59 years. Mr. Bail is the last of a family of 10 children. He is survived by his wife Cora, several nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Bail of Coffeyville, Kas., two brothers-in-law, James and Ray Merryman of Shickley and many friends. Mr. Bail had been in fair health until he suffered a stroke Wednesday, December 10. He failed to rally and passed away at the Geneva General hospital Friday, December 19, 1952, aged 86 years, 8 months and 13 days. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Monday at the Kritner-Ashby Funeral home in Geneva. An old neighbor, Rev. Fred Reeb of Salem Mennonite church, officiated. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
