Description	:	Ulysses Jay (Uly) Ray, 68, retired chief accountant of the Huron Division of Northwestern Public Service Co., died early Sunday at St. John's Hospital. Ray was born on the homestead of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Olaf I. Ray south of Huron. He moved to his present residence in 1911 with his widowed mother and brothers, Henry and Glen, all now deceased. He attended Huron High School and Huron College and enlisted in the Student Army Training Corps, in August 1918. In 1921 he married Harriet Carroll. Ray was a member of the First Methodist Church. Ray was born on the homestead of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Olaf I. Ray south of Huron. He moved to his present residence in 1911 with his widowed mother and brothers, Henry and Glen, all now deceased. He attended Huron High School and Huron College and enlisted in the Student Army Training Corps, in August 1918. In 1921 he married Harriet Carroll. Ray was a member of the First Methodist Church. LaCoTah Commandery No. 6 Knights Templar: Mizpah Chapter No. 9 OES: and William Reaves Post No. 7 American Legion. He served on the post's board of directors several years and in 1964 he was selected Legionnaire of the Year. He was a past president and life member of Sertoma International; past master of Huron Lodge No. 26 A.F. and A.M. and past high priest of Royal Arch Masons No. 19. Ray was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. He was named the Best Ground Gainer in 1919 on the Huron college football team. In 1915, he was the first to establish a summer cabin on Lake Byron after the drought years. Survivors include his widow, Harriet; two sons, Carroll A., Los Angeles; U. James, Minneapolis; and three grandchildren, Gregory, Susan, and Carolyn Ray, Minneapolis. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 pm in the First Methodist Church. The Rev. Cecil Mill will officiate. William Reaves Post No. 7 American Legion will participate with the military flag ceremony at the burial in Riverside Cemetery.
