He was found dead in his apartment in Omaha Saturday morning and had apparently been dead for several days. He was found dead in his apartment in Omaha Saturday morning and had apparently been dead for several days. The only identification of relatives in his apartment was a letter from his sister Mrs. Allo Hoelting in which she mentioned worked at Pax-Ten so it wasn't until Monday morning that Jerry's brother and sisters learned of his death. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schroer and was born in the St. Stephens community leaving home about 30 years ago. He lived and worked in various cities. He is survived by a brother Arnold Schroer, and two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Irene) Ostdiek, and Mrs. Allo (Adelle) Hoelting, all of Lawrence. The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, November 11, 1976; pg. 1 ======= Jerome Schroer Obituary Funeral services for Urban Jerome Schroer were held Wednesday November 10, at St. Stephens Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Father Ed Stander offered the Mass of the Resurrection and conducted graveside services in St. Stephens cemetery (sic). Pall bearers were six nephews Ed Ostdiek, Frank Ostdiek, Ray Ostdiek, Ken Himmelberg, Larry Schroer and Randy Hansen. Urban Jerome Schroer, son of Joseph Schroer and Johanna (Menke) Schroer was born on April 11, 1923 at Lawrence, Nebr. and died at his home in Omaha on Nov. 6, 1976 at the age of 52 years 6 months and 25 days. He attended St. Stephens school and left the parental farm in 1948. He worked in various towns mostly Hastings, Superior and Omaha until he was faced to retire because of loss of hearing. He was a life time member of the Catholic church devoted to his practices and teaching. He had never married and is survived by a brother Arnold Schroer and two sisters Mrs. Herman (Irene) Ostdiek and Mrs. Allo (Adelle) Hoelting all of Lawrence, also nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Walter. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral included Mrs. Robert Korte of Emporia Ks., Mrs. Gene Flading of Louisburg Ks., Mrs. John Flading of Steilwell Ks., Mr. and Mrs. Larry Schroer and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Hansen of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ostdiek and Mrs. Dora Ostdiek of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wombacher of Shelby, Mrs. Alfred Thinystad of Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs. Art Schroer of Hastings.
