Rev. Jon Gaul officiated at the services. Uri Blanchard of Marion and formerly of Monticello and Hopkinton died Feb. 17 at his home in Marion. Uri Blanchard was born August 27,1913 at Hopkinton, the son of James O. and Lulu May Davis Blanchard. He received his education in the Hopkinton area schools, and later farmed in the area. Uri Blanchard and Elda Stahlberg were married Nov. 3,1940 at Manchester, IA. The couple farmed in the Hopkinton area and in 1952 moved to Monticello where Uri was superintendent of water and sanitation for the city. He was also employed as a plumber for Staner Heating and Plumbing and for Kuriger Brothers Plumbing. In 1969 they moved to Marion where he worked for General Growth and Management as staff maintenance at Lindale and Town & Country Malls. He retired in 1982. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Judith Duncan of Marion and Shirley Lange of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two brothers, Donald and Robert of Bristow, IA, and a sister, Wilma Mayberry of Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.
