In the year 1880 he came to the United States and settled in Butler county, Nebr. On Febr. 14, 1888, he was united in marriage to Anna Pohl. They resided in Butler county 27 years. In the year 1880 he came to the United States and settled in Butler county, Nebr. On Febr. 14, 1888, he was united in marriage to Anna Pohl. They resided in Butler county 27 years. In 1906 they moved to Seward county, where they resided 14 years, and in 1920 they moved to Saline county, where he lived 22 years. In 1942 he moved to Seward, where he resided with his son Raymond until his death Febr. 7, 1947. His wife preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1938. To this union eleven children were born, of which two preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his departure, five sons, James of Wilber, Gilbert of Swanton, Jake and Raymond of Seward; Louis of Cheyenne, Wyo.; four daughters, Mrs. Agnes Dowding and Mrs. Martha Slonecker of Seward, Mrs. Christy Ward of Edgemont, So. Dak., and Mrs. Emma Nelson of Swanton; one brother, Anton Zeleney of Big Timber, Mont., also 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Bruno from the St. Anthony’s parish, Febr.11, 1947, at 10 o’clock, Rev. Rada officiating. '''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), February 20, 1947, p. 10, col. 7 BURIAL WAS IN BRUNO Bruno, Feb. 15 – Funeral services for Vaclav (James) Zeleny, 85, were held at St. Anthony’s church at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, Feb. 11, with interment in St. Anthony’s cemetery beside the graves of his wife and a daughter, who preceded him in death. A pioneer resident of this community, the Zeleny family later moved to the vicinity of Swanton. He became blind in his later years. He died at Seward, where he had been cared for in the home of a daughter. He is survived by nine children.
