Rasmussen, a resident of Williamsburg for a little over a year, passed away Saturday evening at 11:20 o'clock following an illness of only an hour. She was 61 years, 11 months and 12 days of age. Funeral services were held. at St. Paul's Methodist church on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 2:00 p. m. Valborg Laura Thoyer was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Jan. 24, 1883 [Gravestone 1885]. She was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran faith. Later in life she attended the Methodist church at Lincoln, Delaware. She came to the United States in 1902. On Feb. 24, 1903, she was united in marriage to John G. Rasmussen of Pilot township, Iowa county. Soon after their marriage they moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, where they lived for five years. They then moved to a farm near Lincoln, Delaware, where they made their home until a year ago last October when they sold their farm and came here to make their home and spend their years of retirement among their relatives and old friends. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, a number of cousins, a host of friends in the Delaware community where they had lived for many years, as well as her friends and relatives in and around Williamsburg."
