Main Avenue. Funeral services begin at 10:00 am Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1300 S. Sertoma Ave. Burial will be at 2:30 pm at Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, IA. Sertoma Ave. Burial will be at 2:30 pm at Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, IA. Valdine Elizabeth Klinker, daughter of Mervin and Eva (Jacobsen) Rusher was born in Duncombe, IA, on September 2, 1934. She grew up near Humboldt, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School. Valdine was married to Paul Tyree and to this union, one son, Michael, was born. She married Merlyn Pollock and 3 children were blessed to them, Mitchell, Marlarae, and Marlynda. She then was united with Randy Klinker, adding Marcene and Mark to their family. Val was involved in the “Sweet Adeline’s” from 1956-1991, 35 years. She also was a member of the Ladies Quartet for 38 years as well as sang in the Saturday evening service and played in the bell choir at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She served as communion chair lady and also provided numerous pots of her homemade soups for Wednesday evening Lenten soup suppers. Val worked at Polite Real Estate Co. in Iowa as a realtor. After marriage to Randy Klinker she was instrumental and worked alongside of her husband to build Aladdin Pressure Washer to a very successful business. She then turned her talents to First City Bank, which was renamed to Bank of New York. She held numerous positions such as accounts and collections analyst as well as #1 skip tracer. From there she moved on to SPS Payment Systems as collector and skip tracer, again honored with numerous awards for being the “best.” After retirement Val never stopped expressing her love for people. She was involved in the Senior Companion Program for 6 years and a member for the disabled program, Independent Living program up to her passing. Her greatest honor was in 2005, when she became a Commissioned Stephen Minister. Her work never stopped, serving her Lord. Cherished life as wonderful Mother, Grandma, and Friend. Val always opened her home to everyone, one that was filled with love and understanding, never judgmental. Valdine loved to travel. She traveled several times to Europe to visit family. She took a cruise to the Greek Islands including time at the Vatican to see Pope Paul with members of Holy Cross Church. Grateful for having shared her life and close to her heart are children, Michael (Lorna) Pollock, Johnston, IA, Mitchell (Kori) Pollock, Algona, IA, Marlarae (Chris) Ramaekers, Humboldt, IA, Marlynda (Nick) Patterson, of Coon Rapids, MN; a brother, Darrell (Dottie) Rusher, Humboldt, IA, a sister, Marilyn (Bill) Eggers, Webster City, IA; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and friends Valdine was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Eva Rusher, husband Randy, step-son, Mark, step daughter Marcene, sister LaRita Biondahl, and great granddaughter Jorani Pollock. - Miller Funeral Home
