His age was 59 years, 6 months, and 28 days. His death was the result of a carbuncle. Before he went to Illinois he had noticed what he thought was a pimple on the back of his neck, but did not think it was anything serious. A few days later the infection became worse and although everything possible was done for his relief the poison spread fast and brought his life to a close. Mr. Limbaugh was born in Holmes county, Ohio, October 29, 1863 and was the second son of Valentine and Mary M. Limbaugh. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1880 and settled on a farm in Jackson township, Adair county, where they resided until the spring of 1885, when they moved to Massena. In 1887 he and his father bought a farm in Victoria township, Cass county, now known as the Wm. Coleman farm, also a part of the Vetterick homestead, where he lived until his parents died in 1899. He then disposed of his holdings and made his home with an uncle north of Anita until five years ago. Since then he has made his home with his brother Henry north of Fontanelle. The deceased never married and leaves to mourn his passing six sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Amanda Whiting, of Arlington Heights, Illinois; Mrs. Sarah Austin, Grant City, Missouri; Mrs. Elizabeth Agaard, Eureka, Kansas; Mrs. E. H. Kilgore, Los Angeles, California; Celestia and Mrs. A. G. McNeil, Atlantic, Iowa; John Limbaugh, Albion, Nebraska; Emanuel Limbaugh, Fontanelle, Iowa; all of whom but tow attended the funeral. The funeral was held last Wednesday in the Methodist church at Massena and was conducted by Rev. Ball, pastor of the Congregational church of Atlantic, assisted by Rev. Hoffstader, pastor of the Methodist church at Massena. Interment was made in the Massena Center cemetery.
