She was born on April 3, 1934 at rural Sterling, Nebraska and was baptized and confirmed at the St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling, Nebraska. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1952. She was married to Carl E. Parrish on January 5, 1954 at Sterling, Nebraska. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling, Nebraska where she had taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Confirmation for many years. She had served as the librarian at the Sterling Library for several years. She enjoyed art, painting, sewing, reading, writing and playing the piano and organ. Survivors include three sons, Rickey Parrish and his wife Vicky, Randy Parrish and his wife Joyce and Ronald Parrish all of Sterling, Nebraska. Four grandchildren, Ann, Jennifer, John and Allan Parrish. Four step-grandchildren, Robert Latas, Dezarae and Amanda Woods and Hannah Rowell. One step-great-grandson. One brother, Gail Kopplin and his wife Mary Lou of Gretna, Nebraska. Three sisters, Marilyn DeFreece and her husband Jim of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kathleen Dunn and her husband Charles of Waverly, Nebraska and Norma Keel of Bellevue, Nebraska. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marie Ollendorf Kopplin and her husband Carl who died on July 11, 1997. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, January 14, 2006 at the St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling, Nebraska with Pastor Doyle Karst officiating. Burial will be in the South St. John Lutheran Cemetery of rural Sterling, Nebraska. A family prayer service will be held at 12:45 on Saturday in the fellowship room of the church. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Shannon and Erma Hazen in charge. The body will lie in state at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling, Nebraska until 8:00 P.M. Friday and then on Saturday at the church one hour preceding the services. A guestbook for signatures and messages of condolence is available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net.
