Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 1009 First Street in Aurora. The Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Read More	PAWNEE CITY — Vance Ulmer, 88, of Pawnee City, formerly of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln. Vance Harold Ulmer, the son of John and Sophia (Trautman) Ulmer, was born in Sutton on May 24, 1927, and passed away in Lincoln, Neb., on May 11, 2016, at the age of 88. He grew up in Sutton, graduated from Sutton High School, class of 1945, and attended UNL for a year. Vance was united in marriage to Lucille Oswald on Dec. 5, 1948, at the Pleasant View Bible Church near Aurora. In 1989 Vance retired after a 42-year career as a location manager for grain elevators, the last 36 years at the Aurora Coop in Murphy. Lucille passed away on Dec. 24, 2000. Vance married Jeanette Miller on Oct. 12, 2003. They made their home on a farm near Pawnee City, where they were involved in many community activities. While in Aurora Vance was a member of the United Methodist Church, where he held numerous church offices. He was a member of the Lions Club and served on the Hamilton Manor Board. In Pawnee City, he attended the United Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lucille; two brothers, Edmund and Milton Ulmer; and two sisters, Irma Horst and Vera Monson. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jeanette of Pawnee City; two sons, Eugene (Rhonda) and Gregory (Mindy), all of Grand Island; a daughter, Nancy (Doug) Salmon of Aurora; four grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren. Vance also enjoyed Jeanette’s five children, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
