Keene 56, of Lowell Street Lewiston was stricken with acute heart disease and died in the automobile of Dr. John E. Cartland of Auburn while on his way to the physician's office to the home of his sister Mrs. Walter Mason at North Turner,Thursday afternoon. Mr. Keene's death occured in Turner. He had been ill for some time. He was born at Turner April 15, 1881 the son of Varna and Martha Staples Keene. As a young man he learned the shoe maker's trade and worked at this until the strike. At the time of the strike he was employed at Morphy Shoe factory. He had also worked at Gardiner and Lynn Mass. He went to Turner two weeks ago to reside with his sister. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Gladys Gayton of Auburn; a brother Linwood W. Keene of Hallowell; four sisters Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Pearl Leavitt of North Turner, Mrs. Carrie Johnson of Belfast, and Mrs. Kate Leach of Abington Mass, a grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the memorial chapel of Dillingham and Son, Sunday June 6, at 1pm. Daylight. Interment at North Turner. Linwood W. Keene, 83, of 13 Spring Street, died at a local nursing home, Monday, after a long illness. He was born at North Turner April 16, 1872, son of Varna and Martha Staples Keene. He was employed by the city of Hallowell from 1935 to 1953, when he retired as a fireman. Upon retirement he was made an honorary fireman.Surviving are his widow Mrs. Lillian Emery Keene; a sister Mrs. Florence Mason; north Turner and three nieces. Born June 27 1885 at North Turner the daughter of Varna and Martha Staples Keene. Aug 5, 1900 married Walter Mason who died several years ago. Lived on Howes Corner then Mill Hill Road where they raised 8 children. As a young girl she sang in the choir her mothers helped organize at North Turner Union Church. An avid reader of history and genealogy she had compiled many scrap books. Surviving are 4 sons Carroll and Kennard both of North Turner, and Arlene Ramsdell Lewiston, 34 grandchildren 32 great grandchildren two daughters Dorothy Chase and Christine Tully are deceased. (Walter E.Mason and Florence were married at Turner Center on Aug 5, 1900 by Rev.
