Description	:	Vauna Lea Lewis, 97 years of age, of Edison, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska. Vauna was born October 24, 1912 on the family farm in Gosper County, southwest of Smithfield, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Frank and Altha (Pence) Robbins. Read More	Vauna Lea Lewis, 97 years of age, of Edison, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska. Vauna was born October 24, 1912 on the family farm in Gosper County, southwest of Smithfield, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Frank and Altha (Pence) Robbins. Vauna received her education from the Robbins Rural School in Gosper County through the eighth grade. On April 2, 1936, Vauna was united in marriage to Ores William Lewis and to this union two sons were born: Marlen and Verlyn. The family made their home on a farm southwest of Smithfield, where Vauna worked side-by-side with Ores on the farm. Vauna also focused all her efforts on raising their sons. While they lived on the farm they attended the Fanner Union Church. On August 7, 1983, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ores. In 1984, Vauna moved into Edison, where she continued to reside until her passing. She enjoyed gardening, and Vauna will be remembered for her crocheting, which she gifted a lot of her creations to many friends and family. She always looked forward to her time spent with her family and neighborhood gatherings. Vauna was a member of the Edison Christian Church, where she served in many capacities including Bible Study, and served with the Ladies Aide. She treasured the friendships formed as a member of the Women's Country Club from January of 1929 until 2000. She leaves to mourn her passing her sons: Marlen Lewis and his wife, Beverly of Orleans, Nebraska and Verlyn Lewis and his wife, Jean of Oxford, Nebraska; grandchildren: Judy Wasserman and her husband, Rod of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sharon Pearson and her husband, Rich of Brady, Nebraska, Dee Lewis and his wife, Roni of Oxford and Rob Lewis and his wife, Taffy of Oxford; great-grandchildren: Mara and Grant Wasserman, Trina Pearson, Jaelyn, Trak, and Ryder Lewis, and Christian Lewis. She is also survived by a former exchange student who was like a grandson, Paulo Bruxellas and his wife, Vanji and their family: Tavia, Brynna, Presslar, and Eleona; nieces: Doralene Weed of Kearney, Shirley Langenberg of Bertrand, and Barbara Stehl of Bertrand; nephews: Glennis Lavene of Bertrand and Richard Lavene of Loomis, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Merle Robbins and his wife, Rachel; one sister, Audrey Wildman and her husband, Tom; sisters-in-law: Anna Meyer and her husband, Ernest, Evelyn Robbins and her husband, Kenneth and June Lavene and her husband, Lloyd and a nephew, Larry Meyer.
