Read More	Obituary of Vearl Kitt Edgar Vearl Kitt, youngest and only surviving son of John C. and Sarah Mead Kitt, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1986, near Bluffton, Ohio, at the home of his daughter and her husband, Verla and Ken Diller, at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 23 days. Vearl, the youngest of nine children, was born in Dayton, Ohio, October 31, 1892, and moved to the south divide near Wauneta, Nebraska, where his parent's settled on a homestead. In this community Vearl attended elementary school and as a young man attended business school in Lincoln. On the eve of Dec. 24, 1918, he was united in marriage to Eva Josephine DeHart in a lovely wedding at her parent's home north of Benkelman. To this union three daughters were born, Verla Ernestine, Denelda Darlene and Eva Elaine. Vearl continued to farm on the south divide and progressed along with the times from horse to tractor farming. He continued to farm until 1970. In 1945 the family moved to University Park, Iowa so that Verla and Darlene could attend college. Vearl commuted back and forth during the farming season for many years. Vearl loved to sing and his mellow tenor voice will be rememberd for many years,and was part of the Kitt quartet that sang for many funerals in the Wauneta area. After the loss of his wife, Eva, in June, 1980, he moved to Bluffton, Ohio, near his daughter, Verla and son in law Ken. Through the years his daughter, Darlene Bellus, continued to bring him back to enjoy the Imperial Camp. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parent's, six brothers, Truman, Will, Homer, John, Ray and Lee; two sisters, Mary McCallum and Clara McBride, and one great grandaughter, Angela Wells. He leaves to mourn his departure his three daughters; Verla Diller and husband, Ken of Bluffton, Ohio, Darlene Bellus and husband, Charles of Marion, Indiana, and Elaine Asfahl and husband, Marvin of Costa Rica; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mildred Wilson of Grant, Ne; Ernestine Hendrickson and husband, Malvin of Benkelman, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Services were held Saturday, Dec. 27, 1986 at the Diller Chapel of the Chiles and Sons Laman Funeral Home in Bluffton, Ohio, with his grandson-in-law, The Rev. Kenneth Fetter, officiating, using as his text"A Friend Of God". The songs were "In The Garden" and "Saved By Grace." Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 29, in the Newman Chapel in Oskaloosa, Iowa, with the Rev. LeRoy Lindsey officiating. Interment was in the University Park Cemetery in University Park, Iowa.
