Read More	Obituaries: Velda Fay Humble Posted on December 7, 2018 by ottumwapost in Obituaries OTTUMWA – Velda Fay Humble, 98, of Bettendorf and formerly of Ottumwa died peacefully December 6, 2018 at her home in Bettendorf. She was born May 3, 1920 in Moravia, IA to Joseph and Evalina Holman Day. She married Estil “Gene” Kimmel in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1972. She married Raymond “Ray” Humble in 1975 and preceded her in death in 1978. She grew up in Chicago and lived most of her life in Ottumwa. She worked 20 years at Lowenberg Bakery and was a member of Ottumwa Baptist Temple. She moved to the Quad Cities in 1998 to live with family. She enjoyed life with a much younger spirit! In her own words, Velda “had a rich and blessed life.” She loved sharing and reminiscing her life memories, many written/scrapbooked. She was most proud of her family- “my prayers were answered and then some!” Surviving are two daughters, Carol Schippers of Bettendorf and Linda (Terry) Sutton of Florida; a son, Robert (Brenda) Kimmel of Ottumwa; 9 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great- grandchildren- 5 generations X 5. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson; 3 brothers, Delbert, Ted and Dale; 2 sisters, her beloved sister Dorothy Parcel and an infant sister, Laverla. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ottumwa Baptist Temple with Pastor Travis Decker officiating. Burial will be at Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to Ottumwa Baptist Temple.
