Velda Louise Hamilton was born on January 28, 1924, the daughter of William and Mary (Voigts) Roever in Janesville, Iowa. She graduated from Janesville high school in 1942. Hamilton, 88 of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. Velda Louise Hamilton was born on January 28, 1924, the daughter of William and Mary (Voigts) Roever in Janesville, Iowa. She graduated from Janesville high school in 1942. Following her education, she was employed at Lutheran Mutual Insurance Company as a bookkeeper and later at Coonradt Ford. On January 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to David A. Hamilton at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. After their marriage, Velda stayed at home and raised her family until the early 1960's, when she went to work at Rohlf Memorial Clinic in Waverly, retiring from the clinic in 1989. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. Velda enjoyed reading and attending her grandsons' activities. Survivors are her son, Alan (Deb) Hamilton of Waverly, Iowa and daughter, Peggy Hamilton of Castle Rock, Colorado; two grandsons, Tom (Sam) Hamilton and their daughter, Harper of Boise, Idaho and Chris (Jess) Hamilton and their family Owen, Addisyn, Kaycen and Jaxen of Waverly, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Ida Breitbach of Waterloo, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David on July 8, 1999 and five brothers, Cecil, Bill, Leland, Kermit and Eldon Roever. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:30 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly with Pastor Joyce Sandberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Harlington cemetery in Waverly. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday at the Funeral Home in Waverly and also an hour prior to services on Friday.
