Velda was born on October 27, 1930, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Ewald and Erna (Steege) Pipho. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church Maxfield. Velda was born on October 27, 1930, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Ewald and Erna (Steege) Pipho. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church Maxfield. In 1947 Velda graduated from Maynard High School. On June 25, 1950, Velda was united in marriage to Rollis Jensen at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, Iowa. Velda spent her life as a homemaker and loving wife and mother. Velda was a member at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver, where she was active in Martha's Circle and the Quilters Guild, and also a member of the Denver Garden Club. Velda's enjoyments included flower gardening, sewing, quilting, and traveling, however, what she enjoyed most was spending time with special friends and family. Velda's memory is honored by: her husband, Rollis Jensen of Denver; four children, Bonny (Merlin) Nuss of Overland Park, Kansas, Barbara (Dan) Andrew of Sedgwick, Kansas, Becky (Greg) Tissier of Danville, Illinois, and Brian (Beth) Jensen of Oak Brook, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Verla Hansen, Elaine (Howard) Gransee, Jeanette (Larry) Pettis; and three brothers, Merlin Pipho, Donald (Katherine) Pipho, and Norman (Margaret) Pipho. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver. Burial was at St. Peter Cemetery in Denver. Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 21, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver where the family greeted friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorials were directed to either St. Peter's Lutheran Church or the Denver Sunset Home.
