Description	:	Velma Clark Freeze Mannetter was born January 23, 1901 in Guthrie County, Iowa, the youngest of seven children born to Joel H. and Ida L. (Woods) Clark. She married Ray Isaac Freeze on October 3rd, 1923 in Casey, Guthrie County, Iowa. They had no children and Ray died in 1926. 1930 census shows she was living in Appanoose County and was a teacher in a public school. On September 25, 1937, she married John Frederick Karl Mannetter. Velma was the daughter of Joel H. and Ida L. Wood Clarke, born at Menlo, Ia. January 23, 1901. She attended the Casey schools and attended the Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and taught in Casey rural schools for 7 years and 23 years in the Hubbard schools, coming to Casey in 1965 to make her home after retiring. She was a member of the Casey First Methodist church, a current circle chairman, president of the Zeldtic club and had a life time membership in the ITEA. Survivors are 4 nephews, 3 nieces. She was preceded in death her parents, her first husband Ray Freeze, and second husband John Mannetter, 2 brothers Harry and Emmer, 4 sister[s] Alberta, Eva, Leona, and Harriet. Funeral services were at the Casey United Methodist Church with Rev. K. Wayne Hochus officiating. The soloist was Jack Briggs, Mrs. Collis Smith the organist. In charge of the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Edgington, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Eichor. Casketbearers were Clarence Rumple, Collis Smith, Max Wheltstone, Vernon Joint, Lynn Turner, Carl Kirkpatrick. Burial was in the Casey Oakwood Cemetery.
