Description	:	Velma “Bootsie” Spradley GASTON ߞ Funeral services for Velma “Bootsie” Spradley, 69, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Gaston. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Fanning and Rev. Robert Jumper, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, and again at 112 Express Court, Gaston. Born in Gaston, she was the daughter of Lizzie Mae Dowd Spradley and the late Norris Edward Spradley. A life long area resident, she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Gaston, and was a loyal and dedicated nurse for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health until her retirement. Her love was mothering and grandmothering to all and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her mother, Lizzie Mae D. Spradley of Gaston; former husband, Sonny Sturkie of West Columbia; her daughters and son-in-law, Beverly “Susie” Cooper of Cayce, Brenda Jeffcoat and her husband Stan of Gaston; sons and daughters-in-law, Sonny “Bubba” J. Sturkie and his wife Denise of Gaston, Johnny Sturkie and his wife Brenda of Gaston, Shannon Sturkie and his wife Donna of Cayce; sister and brother-in-law, June Ott and husband Bobby of Swansea; Brother and sister-in-law, Eddie Spradley and his wife Reba of Gaston; nine grandchildren, Amanda Sauls, Tate Cooper, Clayton Cooper, Brad and Brantley Mack, Dr. Misti Raman, Cristen Sturkie, Joey and Nicki Sturkie; five stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren on the way.
