After she married, she was a homemaker and then worked several places in food service. She was a member of Newton Baptist Temple and had a big part in opening the Aces Teen Center. Surviving are three sons, David (Sharon) Miller of Lenoir, North Carolina, Laurel (Claudia) Miller Jr. of Dryden, Michigan, and Mike Miller of Newton; a daughter, Nancy (Gordon) Holm of Olathe, Kansas; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda Farrington of Mediapolis and Shirley (and Frank) Cummins of Concrete, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Laurel, in 2000; two sons, Calvin E. and Ronald Miller; a daughter, Judith F.
