Description	:	Velma Parks SALISBURY—Velma Parks, 84, of Salisbury died peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born on Tangier Island, Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward Lee and Leola Pruitt. Velma was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church in Salisbury, where she was a member of the Kindred Sunday School class. Read More	Velma Parks SALISBURY—Velma Parks, 84, of Salisbury died peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born on Tangier Island, Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward Lee and Leola Pruitt. Velma was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church in Salisbury, where she was a member of the Kindred Sunday School class. She worked for Safeway Foods for 26 years and was a member of the local Meat Cutters Union. She was also a member of Happy Timers. Velma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and also a friend to everyone. Her heart was filled with happiness and love. She lived it, showed it, and most importantly shared it. She is survived by her husband Ralph Parks of Salisbury; her sons, Andrew L. Walter and wife Ellen of Ellijay, Ga., Terry R. Walter of Salisbury, and Ralph H. Parks, Jr. of Kent Island; sister, Flora Tawes of Crisfield; grandchildren, Shannon Marie Harman and husband, Doug of Canton, Ga., Marilee Christine Walter of Marietta, Ga., Megan Christine Walter of Miami and Taylor Leigh Walter of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Reese Walter; and brother, Sydney Pruitt. A funeral service will be held Friday at 12 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Jay Hurley will officiate. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802; or MAC, Inc.
