Mrs. Goettsch, the former Velma Myrtle Mueller, was born October 13, 1908 in rural Calamus, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Ludwigson) Mueller. She married Walter Goettsch December 7, 1927 at Davenport, Iowa. The couple owned and operated the Phillips 66 Station at Calamus. Her husband preceded her in death April 22, 1998. Mrs. Goettsch, the former Velma Myrtle Mueller, was born October 13, 1908 in rural Calamus, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Ludwigson) Mueller. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Lyle and Dorothy Goettsch, DeWitt; five grandchildren, Marsha (Mark) Witte, DeWitt; Debra (Rocky) Everly, Madison, Wisconsin; Terri (David) Bousselot, Calamus; Leonard (Lana) Goettsch, Calamus; Lonny (Leisha) Goettsch, Calamus; 10 great-grandchildren, Ann Witte, Ellen Witte, Rachel Bousselot, Hannah Bousselot, Amanda Goettsch, Erin Goettsch, Lance Goettsch, Leah Goettsch, Logan Goettsch and LandonGoettsch; a brother, Leonard (Mildred) Mueller, Donahue, Iowa. Along with her husband, Velma was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Kay Goettsch, a brother, Clarence and six sisters, Margaret Clemons, Bertha Arnold, Minnie Grau, Carrie Nerhus, Ida Schwartz and Agnes Goettsch. Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2003. Service of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2003 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. The Rev. Dennis Arndt officiating. Interment at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Calamus. The family suggests memorials to Westwing Place. Pallbearers will be Lonny Goettsch, Leonard Goettsch, Doug Goettsch, David Bousselot, Rocky Everly and Mark Witte. (Source: Schultz Funeral Home)
