Velva was born the second child of Oscar and Pearl Anderson on March 13, 1929, in Circle. As a young girl, the family moved during the Dust Bowl in the 1930s to Pablo, and she lived in the Mission Valley the remainder of her life. She attended elementary school in Ronan and graduated from Polson High School in 1945. She married Carroll Noland on June 9, 1946, and they were married 54 years. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother until her children entered school. She was a medical office manager for Ronan area physicians for 25 years. After retirement, she and Carroll enjoyed traveling, playing golf and spending time with family. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Velva was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Belle Starkel and Arlene Wolfe; her son Carroll LeRoy (Roy); and her husband Carroll. She is survived by her children, Charles (Laurel) of Worden, Gerald (Sandra) of Ronan, Kenneth (Ronda) of St. Ignatius, Sherry (Dan) Wolf of Ronan, and Terry (Kelly) Barrett of Dillon; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Ronan VFW hall.
