Read More	Venance "Pete" Plouffe, 88, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Friday, July 1, 2005 with his loving family by his side. He was employed for many years as a tool grinder for the Savage Arms Company at their Chicopee Falls plant and later at their Westfield plant and retired in 1979. He was born in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on September 20, 1916 a beloved son of the late Venance and Dora (Cote) Plouffe and was a lifelong resident. He attended Saint Joan of Arc Grammar School and the Kirby Middle School both in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Saint Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville where he was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart. He served his parish as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Senior Choir and as the director of attendance for the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Classes. He was also a former captain of his parish for the Annual Catholic Stewardship Appeal for the Diocese of Springfield and was the recipient of the Pope Pius X Award for his many years of service. He was a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus and the Aldenville Seniors at Saint Rose de Lima Church. He enjoyed bowling and was a former member of the Savage Arms Bowling League. He also enjoyed a good game of cards, playing his guitar, working on crossword puzzles and roller skating with his grandchildren. His greatest joy was his family. He loved them dearly and was extremely proud of the birth of his two cherished great-great grandchildren, Isabella Rita and Nicholas Alfonse, the fifth generation of his family. He was a man to be admired, always giving of himself to others, especially his loving family. He was loved by all of them and will be sadly missed. He was predeceased by his infant son, Donald G. Plouffe who was Called Home in 1944. He leaves his beloved wife and cherished companion of 68 years, Rita M. (Geoffroy) Plouffe. They were married in their parish church of Saint Rose de Lima on June 5, 1937. He also leaves his loving daughter, Jeannine B. Turgeon and her husband Donald of Aldenville. His four cherished grandchildren, Catherine A. Grenier and her husband Christopher of West Springfield, Michelle L. Cyran and her husband Anthony of Chicopee, Donald J. Turgeon and his wife Robin of Chicopee and Susan M. Kurpaska and her husband Lawrence of Chicopee. His eight cherished great grandchildren, Andrew Venance Grenier, Jill Wahlgren Jarry and her husband Brian, Cara Wahlgren Galindo and her husband Christopher, Laura Cyran, Matthew Turgeon, Zachary Turgeon, Katelyn Kurpaska and Joseph Kurpaska. His two cherished great-great grandchildren, Isabella Rita Jarry and Nicholas Alfonse Galindo. He also leaves his many dear nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his dear brothers, Theodore and Leo Plouffe and his dear sister, Rosamond Gelinas. His funeral will be held Thursday morning, July 7, 2005 at 8 a.m. from the St. Pierre Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street at the junction of Grattan Street in Chicopee followed by a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Saint Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street in Aldenville. His burial will follow the Mass at Saint Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street in Aldenville.
