M. Thompson, who made an investigation for Coroner S. P. Seaberg. The reports which reached the coroner that the girl committed suicide were found untrue. The girl, who died 40 minutes after she had accidentally lifted the wrong bottle from a shelf, planned to attend the Lewis and Clark high school here this year. A sister, Evangeline Barher, graduated from the Lewis and Clark high school last June. Bertha Barber, another sister, was a student at the high school last year. The girl would have been 15 years old Sunday. According to Dr. Thompson the girl was in the house alone at the time she took the poison. Members of the family appeared a few seconds later and found her lying on the floor with the bottle near. Dr. Thompson arrived in less than 40 minutes, but the girl was dead. According to the physician, the girl had been ill for several days and is presumed to have gone to the chest to secure a bottle containing stomach medicine. John Barber, the father, is a prominent ranch owner, residing four miles northwest of Deep Creek, in Spokane county. Funeral services were held from the homo Sunday from the family residence. Seaberg announced Monday that he now believes Vera Barber, 14 years old, who died from poisoning Saturday, was the victim of an accident and not of suicide. Dr. L. M. Thompson reported to the coroner that he had been treating the girl for stomach trouble and that she probably got hold of the bottle of poison, mistaking it for the medicine he had prescribed. The girl lived with her parents near Reardan.
