Vera Gay Green was born on August 21, 1928, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Maurice L. and Alma I. (Swanson) Green. She married Raymond S. Garvin on September 1, 1946, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2002. She worked with her husband at Ray Garvin and Associates. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was number one fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeye’s, and was a number one supporter of her kids and grandkids activities. She loved fishing and playing cards. She will be especially missed by her special dog, Sophie. Surviving are one daughter, Judith M. (John) Lawrence of Muscatine; two sons, Dennis R. (Lorana) Garvin of Rockford, IL, and Gregory J. (Sue Ann) Garvin of Muscatine; nine grandchildren, Jillann (Drew) Smith of Muscatine, Jon (Megan) Garvin of West Des Moines, Matt (Danielle) Garvin of Cedar Falls, Jason Lawrence of Pittsburg, PA, Callie (Shane) Brass of West Des Moines, Connor (Katy) Lawrence of Des Moines, Denise (Mark) White of Lowden, Heather (Steve) Madden of Silver Springs, MD, and James Garvin of Denver, CO; her great and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Rummery of Muscatine.
