Description	:	Vera Helen Lorine (Krueger) Schmidt went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 8, 2014, passed away at Bryan LGH Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska following a brief illness. Vera was a life time Norfolk resident until moving to Country House Residence in Lincoln in October 2011 to be near family. Vera was born on March 26, 1917, to Frank and Martha (Koepsel) Krueger in Norfolk, Nebraska. Vera was baptized on April 29, 1917 and confirmed May 24, 1931, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Vera was born on March 26, 1917, to Frank and Martha (Koepsel) Krueger in Norfolk, Nebraska. Vera was baptized on April 29, 1917 and confirmed May 24, 1931, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. She attended Christ Lutheran School and graduated from Norfolk (NE.) Senior High School in 1936. Vera was employed at F W Woolworth Company from 1936 – 1950. She married Herbert Schmidt on August 6, 1946, at Christ Lutheran Church. Herb preceded her in death in 1998. Vera was a life time member of Christ Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of Ladies Circle, LWML, Altar Guild, and LLL. She was also a Braille volunteer. Vera is survived by: son and spouse, Steve and Jo Schmidt, Lincoln, Nebraska; daughters and spouses, Janice and Chaplain Morris Jackson, Omaha, Nebraska and Nancy and David Borchers, Lincoln, Nebraska; grandsons J.D. and Jeremy Jackson, Omaha, Chris (Erin) Schmidt, Lincoln, Josh (Julie) Borchers, Wahoo, Marcus (Melanie) Schmidt, Ankeny, IA and Jake (Chantel) Borchers, Wichita, KS; seven great-grandchildren, Katie, Abbey and Alex Borchers, Carson Schmidt, Jamie Borchers and Davis and Dixon Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Emogene Schmidt, Madison and Betty Schmidt, Norfolk and a host of family and friends. Vera was preceded in death by: parents; two brothers and three sisters. Celebration of Life Services for Vera H. Schmidt, 96, of Norfolk was at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church, Norfolk, Nebraska; Reverend Leon Rosenthal was officiator. Burial was prior to the service at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 in New Lutheran Cemetery, Norfolk, Nebraska.
