Born May 2, 1907, in Morning Sun, she was the daughter of Elmer and Sophie Anderson Swanson. She married Fred Callahan September 14, 1926, at Morning Sun. He died July 2, 1955. She later married Howard Willson August 15, 1956, at Morning Sun. He died October 29, 1979. She attended Union country school and graduated in 1926 from Morning Sun High School. During her years in Albia she was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the church circles and the Albia Women's Club. Later she was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church at Morning Sun and the Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed baking and sewing. For several years, she helped judge 4-H sewing at the Monroe County Fair. Her special joy was quilting and she leaves behind many beautiful quilts. Survivors include two sons, Donald Callahan of Morning Sun and Larry Callahan of Chester, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several step great and great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters and one great-granddaughter. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Willson will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Jack Edmisson officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun. Memorials have been established for the First United Presbyterian Church at Morning Sun and the Trinity United Methodist church at Albia. Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Morning Sun, are providing the care and arrangements.
