Description	:	Vera Mae Beahm, 88 of Star Route, Peetz, died Tuesday in a Sterling nursing home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday from the Peetz United Methodist Church, the Rev. Ed Bigler III officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Sterl ing. Mrs. Beahm was born Jan. 29, 1896 in Ragan, Neb., to George and Mabel Moon Kitchel. Mrs. Beahm was born Jan. 29, 1896 in Ragan, Neb., to George and Mabel Moon Kitchel. The Kitchel family moved to the Graylin community in 1910 and homesteaded 20 miles nor thwest of Sterling. On Aug. 24, 1921, she married William Orley Beahm in the Graylin community. The family moved to Peetz in 1926 and they farmed and ranched there until retiring in 1974. Mr. Beahm died March 27, 1981. Mrs. Beahm moved to Sterling in 1980. She was a member of the Peetz United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Club, Farm Women's Club, Peetz Bridge Club and Peetz Garden Club. Mrs. Beahm was very active in various youth organizations and served as a 4-H leader for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Beahm were both very active in the Democratic party and received the outstanding service award from the Democratic party in 1976. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Bob and Dorothy Davis of Peetz; she is also survived by five sisters, Frances Panter of Athol, Kan., Helen Maddocks and Alice Lehr, both of Smith Center, Kan., Marie Frankie Davis of Peetz and Dorothea Chamberlain of Littleton; and two brothers, Harold Kitchel of Littleton and Ralph Kitchel of Citrus Heights, Calif. Chaney-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
