She was married to Lucius Pitman Wilcox 22 June 1918 at Mitchell South Dakota. Vera Margaret and Lucius had twelve children, eleven lived to adulthood. Vera Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lucius, son Lucius (Bud) and baby daughter Ardith. She was able to care for herself up until her last few weeks. She lived with a daughter but was able to cook and do small chores. Margaret was a hard-working mother and wife. As her family grew she managed to work outside the home as a cook in restaurants. She helped with grand-children and they all loved her dearly. She had 30 grand-children, 49 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She was usually able to remember all their names and was able to converse with everyone on current events and news. ∼(Rapid City Journal March 21, 2001) RAPID CITY - Vera Margaret Wilcox, 102, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at her daughter's home. Vera was born Oct. 12, 1898, to Leslie and Mary (Elliott) Eads. She lived with her daughter, Marva Goodsell, who has been her primary caretaker for nine years. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by Lloyd Wilcox of Louisiana, Floyd Wilcox of Rapid City, Ina Heady of Montana, Norma Simmons of California, Nila Kolbeck of Montana, Avenella Doell of Wyoming, Jerome Wilcox of Utah, Marva Goodsell of Rapid City, Gary Wilcox of Rapid City, Carol Walker of Indiana; 30 grandchildren, with two very special ones, Myrna Kobes and Bud Wilcox, that have helped care for her; 49 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucius; daughter, Ardith; and son, Bud Wilcox. Visitation will be Wednesday March 21, 2001, from noon to 5 p.m. at Behrens Mortuary, and one hour before services. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 22, 2001, at 10 a.m. at Behrens Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Tim Coats officiating. Memorial has been established to Hospice of the Hills.
