Description	:	Mrs. Vera Margaret Smith Cooper, of Coffee Corner Road in Furman, died early Saturday morning at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Cooper was born in Hampton County, Nov. 3, 1930, a daughter of the late Hoyt Grady Smith and Madeline Daley Smith. She was a graduate of Winthrop University and taught school in Hampton County for many years. She later served as Bookkeeper with the family business, Smith & Cooper, in Furman. She was a member of the Furman United Methodist Church where she was the Church Organist for 50 years, and also was a member of the Lebanon... Read More	Mrs. Vera Margaret Smith Cooper, of Coffee Corner Road in Furman, died early Saturday morning at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Cooper was born in Hampton County, Nov. 3, 1930, a daughter of the late Hoyt Grady Smith and Madeline Daley Smith. She was a graduate of Winthrop University and taught school in Hampton County for many years. She later served as Bookkeeper with the family business, Smith & Cooper, in Furman. She was a member of the Furman United Methodist Church where she was the Church Organist for 50 years, and also was a member of the Lebanon Cemetery Association where she was Treasurer. Surviving are: Her husband: Ray D. Cooper of Furman; Sons: Denny Cooper and wife Monikue and Mark Cooper and wife Mary, all of Furman; Brother in Law: Larry Barnes of Bloomingdale, Georgia; Grandchildren: Daniel Cooper and Laura Cooper, Heather Cook “Travis”, and Allana Seegers “Anthony”; and also two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister: Frances S. Barnes. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers: Rose Parker, Cynthia Parker, Beatrice Bostick, and Francina Orr. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Monday in the Furman United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Dewey Shaffer, with burial in the Lebanon Cemetery near Scotia. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 P.M. at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West, and Monday morning until 1 P. M. when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services. The family suggests that those who wish may send memorials to the Lebanon Cemetery Association, Mrs. Wise H. Batten, P.O. Box, 445, Estill, SC 29918.
