Description	:	Vera Marie (Jacobson) Dudley was born December 15, 1923 in Ellensburg, Washington, the daughter of Beulah (Robinson) and Elmer A Jacobson. She was reared in the beautiful Kittitas Valley, which she came to love and call her own. One of her favorite spots was the Manastash Ridge, which she climbed many times with her husband Stanley. Read More	Vera Marie (Jacobson) Dudley was born December 15, 1923 in Ellensburg, Washington, the daughter of Beulah (Robinson) and Elmer A Jacobson. She was reared in the beautiful Kittitas Valley, which she came to love and call her own. One of her favorite spots was the Manastash Ridge, which she climbed many times with her husband Stanley. She was very active in music during her high school years, and music remained an important part of her life. She graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1941. She held a degree in Education with a major in Business and a minor in Geography from Central Washington College of Education. She married Stanley Dudley in 1945 in Ellensburg. They lived in Ellensburg and a short stint in Yakima, but Ellensburg was always considered their home. Vera is survived by her husband of 63 years Stanley, her sister Verna Mooney Jones, her brother Robert Jacobson, both of whom added joy to her life; sons Stephen and partner Jennifer, and Milton and wife Kathy, grandchildren Paige, Kris, Casey, Matthew, Jessica and Kyle, step grandchildren Abigail, Joe and Elinor, great grandchildren Seamus, Priscilla and Miles, and step great grandchildren Nicholas and Luca. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vera took joy in sharing many activities with Stanley: swimming, hiking, skiing, teaching in Ethiopia and traveling much of the world. She held dear the wonderful years she had with sons Stephen and Milton as they were growing up. She remembered the joys of camping, skiing, rooting for them at sports events, tearfully saying goodbye when they left home for good (and always a bit worried that they could make it on their own). Her faith and trust in God and Jesus Christ has been her sustainer and life giver. This has always been enhanced through the First Presbyterian Church of Ellensburg and her Bible Study Group, where she found great support and strength. Professionally, every job she held she considered a good and exciting experience. She worked with the Washington Oregon Canning Pear Association in Yakima in the early 50's, the Valley Clinic in Ellensburg in the late 50's and early 60's, and loved her years of teaching Business Education at Ellensburg High School, along with supervising the Broadfront Ski Program. The three years before Stanley retired was spent teaching part-time in the Business Education Department at CWU. She found each one of these life experiences most rewarding. Each day she thanked God for her family, for her siblings and their families and for all of Stanley's family. Each one had made a real contribution to her life, and she felt richly blessed. Vera desired to leave you with the following: "Fill your hearts with love and let that love take over your life--then you will not harbor anger, hatred will leave you, and your life will be filled with God's grace." A Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Ellensburg on Monday, December 1, at 1:00 PM with a reception following. A private interment of Vera's ashes will take place at the IOOF Cemetery in Ellensburg at the discretion of the family. Memorial gifts may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Hospice. Steward & Williams - Cascade Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
