Eastern Star rites were conducted by Mrs. Merritt Warren, worthy matron of the Creighton Chapter. The committal service was conducted by the Rev. David T. Gustafson, pastor of the Methodist Church. Services were held at the Chadron Methodist Church Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Krantz, the former Vera Beach was born Jan. 23, 1886 at Earlville, Ia., the daughter of Vernon G. and Nettie C. Beach. She moved with her family to Creighton in 1896 and was graduated from high school here. She was graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University and received her M.A. degree from Colorado State College at Greeley. She was a teacher for 49 years, 22 of them being at Chadron. Later she taught two years at Edgemont, S.D. She also taught several years in the Creighton schools. She was married to John Krantz of Norfolk on Feb. 1, 1930. He died two years later, while shoveling snow from his stalled car. Mrs. Krantz died at Chadron Municipal Hospital Friday, Feb. 12 at the age of 74. Mrs. Krantz was a member of the Methodist Church, W.S.C.S., Order of Easter Star, American Assn. of University Women, Chadron Business and Professional Women's Club and Chadron Woman's Club. Among those from out of town attending the rites here were Miss Floy Beach, a sister, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Morey and Mrs. Mabel Hoatson, all of Chadron; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Young, cousins, of Inman, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bruegman of Osmond. ...The Creighton News 4 March 1960
