Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 in the Lewellen United Methodist Church with Pastors Jerry Mercer and Charles Bond officiating. Vera Ruth Eggers, the daughter of Charles S. and Mildred P. (Dobyns) Curry was born November 13, 1912 at Cornin, Missouri. She moved with her family to a homestead near Arthur, where she began her education. She later graduated from the Lewellen High School. On February 13, 1932, she was united in marriage to Willie A. "Bill Eggers at Julesburg, Colorado. They made their home in Julesburg, where they farmed. They moved to Lewellen for a time before moving to Iowa, where they farmed in several different areas. Because of her ill health, they moved to Colorado Springs and Loveland, Colorado and then to Laramie, Wyoming before moving back to Lewellen. Ruth was the top sales person for Avon for several years. She enjoyed her family and loved to cook. She was active in the Lewellen United Methodist Church until ill health reasons precluded it. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Cooper of Gering, two granddaughters, Sandra Daniels and her husband, Tim, of Gering and Rae Ann Barnett of Lincoln, two grandsons, Mick Cooper of Gering and Tom Cooper of Melbeta, and ten great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Arvie Eggers.
