Description	:	Vera Woldruff Clayton was born on a farm east of Braddyville, Iowa, Buchanan Township, Page County, on March 7, 1903, to James Russell Woldruff and Amanda Florence Fine. Vera was one of a family of thirteen. She departed this life March 3, 2001 at the age of 97 at Westridge Care Center, Clarinda, Iowa, where she had been a resident since November, 1993. Read More	Vera Woldruff Clayton was born on a farm east of Braddyville, Iowa, Buchanan Township, Page County, on March 7, 1903, to James Russell Woldruff and Amanda Florence Fine. Vera was one of a family of thirteen. She departed this life March 3, 2001 at the age of 97 at Westridge Care Center, Clarinda, Iowa, where she had been a resident since November, 1993. Vera spent the first 18 years of her life on a farm in Page County attending school in the Pine district, then moved with her parents to Taylor County and then to Greely Colorado in 1920 returning to Taylor County in 1923. On September 23, 1925, she was united in marriage to Floyd William Clayton, near Siam, Iowa. To this union, three children were born: Donald Eugene, Orie Lee and Deloris Marie. After her marriage she moved to a farm northeast of Siam, Iowa for 21 years and then the family moved two miles south of New Market, Iowa on the Red Line. Vera joined the Methodist Church in Greeley, Colorado and changed her membership to Siam Methodist Church when she returned to Iowa and then to New Market Methodist Church. Vera loved the outdoors, always had a big garden and loved her flowers. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Floyd, May 6, 1965, brothers, Loy Woldruff, Orie Woldruff, Elbert Woldruff, Cecil Woldruff, Glen Woldruff, Loren Woldruff, George Woldruff and sister, Ethel Neal. Survivors include children: Donald E. Clayton of New Market, Iowa, Orie Clayton and his wife Helen of Clarinda, Iowa and Deloris Skogman of Omaha, Nebraska, grandchildren; Kim Suddeth and husband David of Bloomington, Minnesota, Brian Skogman and wife Valerie of Chicago, Illinois, Sally Fixler and husband Steve of Kansas City, Missouri, Julie Samuel and husband Larry of Huntington Beach, California, Molly Reed and husband Jeff of Omaha, Nebraska and Mary Troll and husband Todd of Des Moines, Iowa, 21 great grandchildren, sister, Lois Orme of Hopkins, Missouri, brother, Marvin Woldruff and wife Ethel of Clarinda, Iowa, sister-in-laws, Frances Cogdell of Atlanta, Georgia, Ruth Wasson of Council Bluffs, Iowa and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa, with Rev Mark Woldruff officiating. There was open visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Memory Cemetery, New Market, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the New Market Methodist Church or to the New Market Fire and Rescue.
