Description	:	Verda May McGinness was born to Randall (sic) and Mary Bronson Demaray on August 1, 1899, at a farm near Alexandria, Nebraska. She passed away November 30, 1983, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 29 days. Verda was baptised in Hastings, Nebraska, and attended the Church of Christ at the time of her death. She attended country school in Thayer County. Read More	Verda May McGinness was born to Randall (sic) and Mary Bronson Demaray on August 1, 1899, at a farm near Alexandria, Nebraska. She passed away November 30, 1983, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 29 days. Verda was baptised in Hastings, Nebraska, and attended the Church of Christ at the time of her death. She attended country school in Thayer County. January 1, 1917, in Fairbury, Nebraska, she was married to Joseph McGinness. This union was bless with five daughters and two sons. Joe and Verda lived in the Alexandria area until 1940 when they moved to a farm northeast of Nelson, Nebraska, in the Angus community. Verda spent many hours crocheting and making quilts. Her most prized possession was her collection of miniature pigs of all sizes, shapes and colors. In her last few years she had collected dolls from her grandchildren, repaired and dressed the. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Joseph, in 1951; two sons, Jay Donnivan and Eugene; a sister, Oma Stanley; and three grandchildren. Survivors include her five daughters, Twila and her husband, Fred Carlson, of Potter, Lyla and her husband, Alex Brown, of Nelson, Eunice and her husband, Howard Brooks, of Warsaw, Ohio, Josephine and her husband, Don Fitzgerald, of Superior, and Jennie Mae Scoville of Rising Star, Texas; a sister, Stella Virtil of Van Nuys, California; a brother, Louis Demaray of Erickson; 35 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 3, 1983, at 2 p.m. from the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Nelson with Richard Milliken officiating. Music was provided by Theda Shaw, organist, and Clara Ruttman, soloist, singing "The Unclouded Day" and "When I've Gone The Last Mile of The Way". Casketbearers were Albert Ahrens, Gordon Ruttman, Wilbur Wilson, Martin Whitmore, Kenneth Grossman, Bob Shaw and Wayne Moorehead. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery.
