She attended District 8 school and graduated from Castalia high school. Throughout her life Verla had been a housekeeper for several families in the area. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia and the Tuesday Club. She is preceded in death by her father and a brother in infancy. Surviving are a son, Gary and his wife, Jennifer, Castalia; two grandchildren, Tami and Todd Mundt; her mother, Minnie, Postville; a sister, Esther Schroeder, Castalia; two nieces, Karen (Mrs. Kenneth Ney), Ossian and Gwen (Mrs. Herman Thompson), Sidney, Ohio and great-nieces and nephews.
