After her childhood, Verla relocated to Charlotte seeking employment, and worked for Hudson Hosiery Hill until 1941, when she married Ray Godfrey. Eventually, Verla went on to work for Package Products, and Belk's department store as an associate. Mrs. Kepple was presented multiple certificates of appreciation for her many years of volunteering for Meals on Wheels, and her dedication for visiting shut-ins.
