He was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Hoges Store, Va., the son of James L. Beckner and Minnie Buford (Robertson) Beckner. Mr. Beckner was employed by Consolidated Packaging Co. as a diesel mechanic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katheryn R. Beckner, in 1994; a sister, Sis McCroskey; and his parents. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Christian Enterprise Baptist Church, 405 Gideon Road, with the Rev. James Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Military Honors by American Legion Post 218 Color Guard and burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
