Verlyn Kellenberger was born Dec. 28, 1948, to Henry and Elaine (Grimm) Kellenberger in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He attended Lester Public School and West Lyon Community High School, graduating in 1967. He then joined the South Dakota Air National Guard working as a sheet metalist on planes from 1967 to 1974. On July 17, 1971, he married Linda Doorneweerd. In 1974 they began farming and farmed in the Lester, Rock Rapids and Hills areas with his brother, LeRoy. In 1993 he began trucking with his brother-in-law, Butch. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester since 1979. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and in his truck. Mr. Kellenberger is survived by his wife, Linda Kellenberger, Lester; four children, Lonn (Jammie) Kellenberger, Rock Rapids, Emily (Mike) Rozeboom, Inwood, Iowa, Katie (Arlan) Miller, Normal, Ill., and Adam (Erika) Kellenberger, Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Rosella (Bob) Metzger, Lester, Connie (Doug) Bergstrom, Lakeville, and Susie (Doug) Messner, Eagan; six brothers, Dennis (Shirley) Kellenberger, Steen, LeRoy (Lou) Kellenberger, Sioux Falls, Calvin (Edna) Kellenberger, Lester, Brad (Theresa) Kellenberger, Sabetha, Kan., Curt (Martha) Kellenberger, Lamar, Mo., and Ladell (Shelly) Kellenberger, Lester; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; a niece; a nephew and several in-laws. Arrangements were by Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, www.jurrensfuneralhome.com.
