(Mausbach) McCaskey Sr. She grew up in the Beresford/Canton area and graduated from Canton High School. She married Verlyn “Hoot” Gibson on September 7, 1951 at the Romsdal Lutheran Church in rural Beresford. After their marriage the couple moved to Sioux Falls. She enjoyed collecting Emmett Kelly clowns, making porcelain Christmas ornaments, crocheting, cooking, baking bread, bowling, canning, and visiting with people. Verlyn “Hoot” Lloyd Gibson was born on August 7, 1931 to Raymond G. and Bertha (VanLoh) Gibson. He was born and raised in Lennox, SD and graduated from Lennox High School, where he excelled in sports. He played baseball for the Lennox Browns for many years. Hoot and Mabel both worked in Sioux Falls at John Morrell & Company for 30 years. After Hoot and Mabel retired, they moved to Lake Traverse, where they lived for over 25 years before moving to Watertown. Hoot enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, gardening, bowling, being outdoors and visiting with coffee groups. The couple was preceded in death by their son, Michael Lloyd Gibson; Hoot was preceded in death by his sisters, Leona Kroeger, Lillian Meyer and Iva Cummings; and his brother, Loyis Gibson.
