He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jim Wardenburg and a grandson Hunter Wardenburg. Verlyn Lee Wardenburg was born January 9, 1936 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Martin and Elsie Sims Wardenburg. He graduated from the Hilton Consolidated High School in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Army serving for a year. Verlyn was a lifelong farmer. He married Cornelia Mae "Connie" Neumann on June 6, 1964 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Marengo. Verlyn enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He liked to travel and winter in Texas. He also enjoyed attending musical shows and plays. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo.
