Description	:	Vernie Elmer Keesler, son of Charles Henry Keesler and Alex Gossard, was born February 13, 1897 in Washington Township, Adams County, Iowa and died May 3, 1930 at 12:45 p.m. at his home, aged 33 years, 2 months, and 10 days. Vern was a victim of pneumonia and had made a brave fight against the illness which took him from his loved ones. April 30 1919 he was married to Miss Elsie Bennett of Macksburg, Iowa. To this union one son, Elmer LaVern was born. He is survived by his widow, little son, father, mother and three sisters and two brothers.... To this union one son, Elmer LaVern was born. He is survived by his widow, little son, father, mother and three sisters and two brothers. The sisters and brothers are Mrs. John Devereaux, Mrs. Lucy Garner, and Miss Doris Keesler of Corning, Iowa; Harold Keesler of Lorimer, Iowa and Orris who resides at home. Many other relatives and a host of friends also grieve because of the untimely passing of this fine young man. When he was a boy he united with the First Adams County Baptist Church. His whole life has been spent in the community in which he was born and he was beloved by all who knew him. He was always cheerful and willing to help in any way possible. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a kind son and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Henry Stone of Black Hills, South Dakota, who was a great uncle of the deceased, a Civil War Veteran and 89 years of age came down to pay his tribute of devotions to the young man. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Etna M. E. Church by Rev. Harry K. Rogers at Mt. Etna and Rev. L. W. Verts of Corning, Iowa. Interment was made in Adams County Cemetery.
