Born in Windsor, VT, daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Ricketts) Johnson, she grew up in New Hampshire and had lived most of her life in Windsor. While raising her family in Windsor, Verna worked at Sage & Allen department store in Windsor Shopping Center until the store closed in 1992. She leaves two sons, William Lewis and his wife Rita of Windsor, and Michael C. Lewis and Maria Altomare of Windsor; three daughters, Linda A. Lewis of Windsor, Donna Rabbett and her husband Daniel of Ellington, and Patricia Rabbett and her husband John of Windsor Locks; five grandchildren, Erin Lewis and her fiance Michael Costa, Lori Lewis, Teresa Lewis, Amanda Rabbett, and Colleen Rabbett; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Leslie Johnson and Ralph Johnson; and two sisters, Violet Gordon and Rena Downs. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 28, 10 a.m., in the chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial will be in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, June 27, 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Wilson Volunteer Fire Department, 50 Pine Lane, Windsor, CT 06095 or to Bickford Healthcare Center, Recreation Fund, 14 Main St., Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
