Description	:	Verna M. Hove, age 84, of Powers Lake, died Saturday, May 30th at her son's rural of Powers Lake home, where she had been residing. Her funeral will be held today, Wednesday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church of Powers Lake with burial following in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery, also of Powers Lake. Officiating for the service will be Rev. Ray Kerley, with Mrs. Hazel Lawrence at the organ, and Rev. Wayne Sharpe of the Maranatha Fellowship of Stanley, singing. Honorary casketbearers will be LeRoy Nelson, Lloyd Enget, Ted Gibson and Otto Carlson. She was born on Feb. 5, 1903, at Atwater, MN, a daughter of Gust and Hattie (Hjort) Swedlund. She moved with her family to homestead south of Kenmare when she was a young girl and in 1913 they moved to of Powers Lake where she attended school to the ninth grade. She then attended school at Kenmare and graduated from High School in 1921 and later the Fargo School of Business. She returned to teach school at rural Battleview and later worked for the Kenmare National Bank at Kenmare. She was married to Thomas K. Hove on June 12, 1926, and they lived and farmed in of Powers Lake Township, Mountrail County, where they also operated their own dairy for a few years. He died on December 25, 1948. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Civic Club as well as the local Homemakers Club while living on the farm. She is survived by her son, Thomas Jr. of Powers Lake; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clifford Swedlund of Bismarck; she was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas; son, Kenneth; and a daughter, Marilyn. Thompson-Larson Funeral Home of Powers Lake will be in charge of arrangements.
