Description	:	w/o Alonzo Thorndike - Verna May (Bessey) Davis, 73, died unexpectedly July 19, 1980, at a local hospital. She was born May 4, 1907 in Freedom, the daughter of Walter E. and Grace (Hamlin) Bessey. She had always been a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Harvest Moon Grange of Thorndike . She and husband, Lonnie, were among the first to transport school children in Thorndike. She is survived by her husband, Alonzo E. Davis of Thorndike, five daughters, Mrs. Earl (Grace) Stevenson of Unity, Mrs. Hervey (Jeanette) Work, Mrs. Carl... Davis of Thorndike; 20 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister Mildred Gould of Belfast; four nieces and one nephew. Burial will be in the Center Cemetery in East Thorndike following a private memorial service held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Rackliffe Funeral Home, Belfast.
