The daughter of Jesse and Goldie (Swander) McReynolds, she was born July 13, 1924, in Osborne Co, in Kill Creek Township. She attended Enterprise Grade School and Graduated from Covert H.S. in 1942. News - May 18, 2005 Waldo - Verna Viola (McReynolds) Elliott, Waldo, died May 14, 2005, at the Golden Plains Car Center, Hutchinson, at the age of 80. The daughter of Jesse and Goldie (Swander) McReynolds, she was born July 13, 1924, in Osborne Co, in Kill Creek Township. She attended Enterprise Grade School and Graduated from Covert H.S. in 1942. She received her teaching certificate and taught in rural schools for two years before marrying Lloyd Dean Elliott, Feb. 10, 1946, at the Kill Creek Methodist Church. She was a near life-long Waldo area resident and a long-time member of Waldo United Methodist Church, Waldo, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She assisted her husband on the family farm and also was a homemaker. Preceding her in death were: parents and a daughter. Survivors include: Lloyd Dean of the home; two sons, L. Richard Elliott and wife Catherine, Waldo; and Kendall Elliott and wife Vickie of Russell; a daughter, Shirley Welk and husband Harold, Hutchinson; three brothers, Kenneth McReynolds and wife, Marjorie, Hutchinson; Herbert McReynolds, and wife Olive, Osborne; and Donald McReynolds and wife Doris, Chanute; 9 grandchildren; 4 gt. grandchildren. Funeral services are today, Wed. May 18, at the Waldo United Methodist Church, Waldo with Pastor Chris Holtorf officiating. Interment will be conducted at the Natoma Cemetery, Natoma. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Waldo Senior Center, both of Waldo. Pohlman-Heise Mortuary, Russell is in charge.
