Hanekamp, longtime resident of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 1965, at the Fillmore County Memorial hospital in Geneva at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 29 days. Mr. Hanekamp, who lived alone in West Geneva, became ill at his home and was hospitalized only a few days before his death which was attributed to a heart attack. VERN--Verner E. Hanekamp, longtime resident of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 1965, at the Fillmore County Memorial hospital in Geneva at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 29 days. Mr. Hanekamp, who lived alone in West Geneva, became ill at his home and was hospitalized only a few days before his death which was attributed to a heart attack. The deceased, who was born August 15, 1894, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hanekamp was a native of Fillmore county and a veteran of World War I. He served as Geneva street commissioner several years, and also was employed as a plumber many years, having been associated with Garrett Plumbing of Geneva until a few years ago. Survivors include his sisters, Mrs. Bertha Goeury of San Diego, Cal., and Mrs. Gale Livesay of Fairbury. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Florence, and a brother, Roy. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, at 10:30 a. m. at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva with Rev. Clifford Bahr of the Geneva Evangelical United Brethren church officiating. Pallbearers were Earl Ackland, Harry Carlson, William Garrett, E. J. McCluskey, C. T. Moss and Sam J. Saltzman. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery with military services being conducted at the graveside. The Nebraska Signal July 22nd, 1965 page 9.
