Description	:	Mrs. Vernice N. Rhodes, 84, of 315 Fulton Ave., Rochester, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday at Life Care Center of Rochester. Vernice was born in Rochester on May 9, 1927, the daughter of Wilbur and Lillie Opple Craig. Growing up she shared her childhood as the youngest of seven children, including three sisters and three brothers. Rhodes, 84, of 315 Fulton Ave., Rochester, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday at Life Care Center of Rochester. Vernice was born in Rochester on May 9, 1927, the daughter of Wilbur and Lillie Opple Craig. Growing up she shared her childhood as the youngest of seven children, including three sisters and three brothers. A lifetime Fulton County resident, Vernice was a proud Rochester High School graduate; a member of the Class of 1945. On March 8, 1946, Vernice and Dale Rhodes were married in Rochester. Their union of 58 years produced three daughters and a son. The family tree flourished with the addition of 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. As a homemaker, Vernice was busy taking care of her family. She thoroughly enjoyed knitting afghans and baby blankets for the newest additions to the family tree. Sewing clothing was also a talent of hers. She liked to stay in touch by visiting with her friends. A loyal and devoted member of the Riverview Community Church, Vernice was also active at the Area V Senior Center. She kept in shape by attending exercise class. As a member of the Woodlawn Ladies Auxiliary, she volunteered at the Woodlawn Hospital for 42 years. Vernice is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Sandra Rogers, of Rochester, Kimberly England and husband Robert, of Vandalia, Ohio, and Michelle Hubenthal and husband Todd, of Logansport; a son, Dale Lynn Rhodes and wife Karen, of Celina, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Dale, on Oct. 25, 2004; three sisters, Esther Bowen, Mildred Wagoner and Mable Wagoner; and three brothers, Devon Craig, Lloyd Craig and Raymond Craig. A celebration of the life of Mrs. Vernice N. Rhodes will be at 2 p.m. today in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Rev. Rod Ruberg officiating. Friends may visit with Vernice's family from noon-2 p.m. today in the funeral home. She will be laid to eternal rest next to her beloved husband Dale at Rochester's IOOF Cemetery.
