Fauss, 84, of Yankton, S.D., formerly of Hooper, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. He died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, Minn. He was born June 5, 1920, in Randolph to Jacob and Mabel (Lueninghoener) Fauss. He grew up in Hooper and was a 1937 graduate of Hooper High School. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II from April 1, 1943, to Dec. 14, 1945, and served in France with the 14th Field Army Hospital. He married Ermagrace Jacobsen on Jan. 22, 1944, in St. Louis. After his discharge, he worked for Omaha Public Power District and lived in Omaha. He moved to Hastings in 1949 and worked for Nebraska Public Power District as a power system dispatcher. He moved to Watertown, S.D., in 1954 and was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation (now known as WAPA) as power systems operator. He spent 18 months in Fort Peck, Mont., before returning to Watertown. He retired in 1980. His first wife, Ermagrace, died Aug. 6, 1986. He married Charlotte Anderson Fauss on Sept. 24, 1994, in Hooper. The couple moved to Rapid City in 1994 and then to Yankton in January 2003. In 1994, he had a model shop from which he dispensed model airplanes, parts and his extensive knowledge of the hobby. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Watertown, a former member of Nemo Community Church in Nemo, S.D., and Cordes Lakes Community Church in Cordes Lake, Ariz. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 336, Academy of Model Aeronautics Association and life member of Elks Lodge 838, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 750, American Legion Post 17 and Voiture 773 of 40 & 8, all of Watertown. Survivors include: his wife, Charlotte; six sons, Clyde (and wife, Jynnine) Fauss of Phoenix, Vern (and wife, Vivian) Fauss of Casper, Wyo., David (and wife, Ann) Fauss of Roseburg, Ore., Larry Fauss of Wahoo, John (and wife, Bonnie) Fauss of Tulsa, Okla., and Richard (and wife, Christine) Fauss of Louisburg, Kan.; a daughter, Carol (and husband, Charles) Gauker of Yankton; two brothers, Ray (and wife, Mary) Fauss of Seattle and Gerald (and wife, Marghi) Fauss of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Flo Fiveash of Spokane, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Jerri Fauss of Hooper; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a brother. The Rev. Greg Hall of First United Methodist Church in Fremont will officiate Thursday's service. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of American Legion Post 18 of Hooper and the Winslow/Hooper VFW Post 10535. Burial will be in Hooper Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Nemo Community Church and Cordes Lakes Community Church.
